04 Maxima Fitment Questions

Okay so here it is,

I have gone through all the threads and posts trying to figure out what fits and what doesnt. Here is my issue, I am in college right now and my dad is at home going to meet people from craigslist and going by some shops. I need to know what wheels and offsets and everything fit my 04 Maxima. It is on the stock suspension right now but I do plan to lower it (progress/kyb gr2).

I have the recommended tire sizes per Tire Rack (245/45-18, 245/40-19, 245/35-20) and the bolt pattern is 5x114.3/5x4.5. I am looking for some 18, 19, or 20" tires and rims. If i find anything just by the tire size would it work? I am finding a lot of wheels coming from IS300s and 350zs but the tire size is 225 or 235...

My biggest issue is I do not want to have to drive home just to try on some wheels that dont work. I do not want anything that sticks out or sits too far in because I do not want to use spacers or adapters. If someone has some advice that would be great because math is not my strong point lol. (Thats why I am a Philosophy major and Information Systems minor)

Thanks in Advance everyone!

For offset, I'd stay within about 35 to 40. With a higher offset you can use a wider wheel. With a lower offset you can use a narrower wheel.
For tire size use what tirerack suggests. It should be ok to go on increment up or down in width but aspect ratio is more important. ie: the 35 in 245/35/20.
For width, stay within 7.5 to 9. But keep in mind the width affects offset. For example, if you have a 20x8 with 40 offset and a 20x9 with 40 offset, the 20x9 will stick out 5mm more than the 20x8.

Thanks for the info I forgot to post over here: I ended up ordering a wheel and tire package from Butler Tire. I forgot the name of the tires but they are 245/35-20. The wheels are here:

I have to disagree with this example. The extra inch added in width by using the 20x9 will evenly distribute to both sides of the rim if the same offset is used 13mm both ways. Not 5mm more, it would extend outward and inward by 13mm (half inch or half of 25.4mm) more than the 20x8.

Buying rims for your car shouldn't be taken lightly The more time you put into it the better it will look.

The best tip would be offset offset offset it is the most important part and finding a rim with the perfect offset for are cars is pretty hard, if your looking for flush fitment to the fender. If not just use the tire sizer on the tire sites that tell you to enter your cars information and buy what it tells you to and ignore the rest of my post.

For flush or dam close you will need a +26 offset with a 8" rim or a +32 with a 8.5" rim or a +38 offset with a 9" rim +/- 1-2mm for the front. In the rear you can use spacers to make them even with the fender. Or staggered and it would be +17 offset for a 8" rim or a +29 offset for a 9" rim +/- 1-2mm. But staggered can't be rotated front to back the disadvantage to staggered fitment.

And on a 9" rim l would go with a 245/30/20 or 245/35/19 or 245/40/18 If you wanted a slight stretch look and not the box look in your rubber you could use a 235 instead of the 245.

On a 8" rim 235/30/20 or 235/35/19 or 235/40/18 And if you wanted a slight stretch 225 instead of 235.
