What would cause wear like this??

Okay so yesterday I had a flat on my driver's side rear. When I got my tire off, this is what I found on the inside. I did notice that there was a shiny spot on my shock absorber (not sure if that's what it's actually called or not), but I didn't think it lined up right to be able to make those marks.
I checked my other tire today, which I'll be honest needs to be replaced because it's nearly bald. That tire had two places on it that were sort of like this tire, but not as extreme. Yet I guess.
I know both tires are way overdue to be replaced, but is there something else that could have cause this?
I'm buying new tires. I just don't want the same thing to happen to them because something is wrong with my car.

Any help is appreciated! =)

hard to see from the pic, but are the tires cupping? if theyre cupping, its probably bad shocks/struts.

Is your rear "bouncy"?

If I know what cupping is... Then yes I think so. Where the extremely worn parts are there are like diagonal wear marks coming from them towards the inside of the tire. From what I've been researching I thought it might be shocks/struts too. Sorry you couldn't see the picture better.

I'm kind of oblivious to things like that until something bad happens... So looking back on it, yea it is a little bouncy. Not like soft bouncy... more like if I hit a bump my car kind of goes WHABAM! Maybe not that extreme, but still.
Does that mean bad shocks/struts?

push down hard on the trunk 2 or 3 times, if the rear of the car bounces up and down more than 1.5 times, you probably have bad struts

cupping can be from the tires themselves sometimes, but usually its bad struts or shocks

I JUST went outside and did that. It wasn't extreme bouncing, it just rocked a few times and then stopped. I wouldn't call it bouncing really... maybe shaking? It's possible though that I'm not strong enough. Thanks for trying to help.

Oh and if the cupping is just from the tires is there anyway to stop that? Or am I just going to go through tires like this forever.
