Powdercoat is peeling/bubbling/oxidizing...

I got these rims yesterday, and the first thing I noticed was that the powdercoat is just god awful. It is peeling, bubbling, and oxidizing really bad. So I think I am going to strip the powdercoat? I read the how-to strip paint off a rim, and if its the same process it should be pretty easy going, however, I am not sure if you can just spray airplane stripper on powdercoat and sand it off? I would like the finish to be the same as the machined lip.

Now for the pics

This is the worst of the peeling on the face of the rim

This is what they look like overall, and if you note the machined lip, that is what I am trying to get back to.

The guy I picked em up off of said powdercoat, but I have never seen powdercoat with that mirror finish, another reason why I didnt want to go spraying aircraft stripper on it.

*edit*

After more interweb research, it is chromed, I suppose that is kinda a gimme, and really my bad, as powdercoating never has the mirror finish that these rims have. Now the question changes to, "Is chrome restoration even an option with the amount of decay on the chrome?"

I could always go and get the chrome melted off at a powdercoating place and get it redone, or I could get the chrome removed and have the machined metal as the finish.

Decisions decisions....

Yeah def. not powder coating. As far as refinishing, I would take them to a local shop that does chrome restoration. They would be able to quickly and efficiently remove the finish and chrome them.
