Hankook Ventus ES V4 vs Federal SS 595

Recently, I bought a set of wheels and tires locally. The wheels are stock 17" staggered 350Z with Hankook VS ES4. Are these tires any good? I had Falken ZIEX 502 currently and they suck. It was good and sticky for about 10K it was gone after that. I had Michelln MX 4 before and they had better wear but not as sticky as the ZIEX.

Recently, I,ve heard about Federal SS595. This seems to be UHP summer tires with decent wear although the rating was only 240.

Anyone ran these? What is your thought?

V4 ES are merely alright. They are on my DD (were on there when I bought it, I would never buy them on purpose). Much better tires out there. I don't have any personal experience with Federal SS595s but I've heard that they are pretty good. Not the best out there but my impression is that they are a much grippier tire than something like the V4 ES. I think they try to compete with the likes of the top AutoX and lap day street tires like the Star Spec, Kumho XS, RE-11, etc. I don't think they have been characterized as being as good as those, but they are much closer than something like the V4 ES is.

You didn't say anything about what your intended use will be.

You can't compare treadwear ratings between manufacturers. There is no oversight on treadwear ratings. Companies assign treadwear ratings themselves. A 300 treadwear from dunlop is not necessarily equal to a 300 treadwear from another manufacturer.

I have my ventus now for a week. Not bad but not great either. I got more road noise compared to the ziex or Michelin, but for $100 all 4, I could careless about the noise. Tracking pretty good also. It's for DD and I don't speed at all, except when my immaturity kicks in around the on/off ramp
