Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a new set of tires for our car and I'm curious to hear what you guys think is the best riding tire for a 5th gen Maxima. I really don't care what they cost (within reason), I just want a good ride. Considering we probably have the worst roads in the country/known to mankind, comfort is an issue.

I have 225/45/17 Pirelli Zero Neros and I don't like them all that much. I'd like to go something a little taller and better riding.

What do yall got?

I've had Nitto Motivos for about a month now and they ride very smooth and that's lowered with springs and 225/40/18's! Excellent grip in wet and dry conditions as well. The ride can only get better with a taller tire i'm sure

 

I have a set of 215/50/17 Michelin Primacy MXM4. They are some of the best tires ive ever driven on. They are coming to the end of their life and they still ride as good as when i got them back in may 2011. Highly recommend.

 

Awesome man, I guess I missed this post! Nitto gripping in wet conditions? Man, I had Nittos on my SS, my Cobra and my 5.0. They were horrid in the rain. Of course I had the drag radials...!

I'll have to take a look at them.

Yea, Michelin is probably the best tire made, but I've always had a problem with the French! That's why I've always had Goodyear, for the most part. How many miles did you put on them?

I guess I'm being a bit selfish here. I want a smooth ride, solid grip and longevity. That's not too much to ask for right?

 

Go with the stock size, and it should help some.

225 50 17's or slightly taller 215 55 17's.

 

Man, I think I'm going to go with the 55's. That would be 10cm of difference tire size, so I think you're right.

 

Conti ExtremeContact DWS...first purchase on this car, coming up on two years of Seattle sun/rain/slop/snow/slush/rain/downpour/flood/sun climate and they're hands down the BEST tires I've ever owned.

 

Really? I had a buddy that works at a a Sears or Tire King...or something. But anyway, he swears by continental. How many mile tire are yours?

 

I want to say they're warranted for something like 80K I've put about 20k on them, rotate every 6 months, and they're great!

They DO have a softer sidewall though, but it sounds like that won't be bad for what you're looking for (ride comfort)

 

Awesome man, that's exactly what I want. I'll be buying an 03-04 Terminator soon, I want my Maxima to be my pre-caddy as much as possible! Which is what makes them great, quick and comfy.
