TPMS compatability question between 2009 and 2013 Maximas

I have a 2009 SV with several failing TPMS sensors. I assume they have dead batteries. I must resolve this to have my car pass inspection. The Nissan dealer estimated the cost to be well over $700 for the sensors installed.

I can buy an entirely new set of 2013 stock rims with like new tires and OEM TPMS sensors for just over $1K. I need to know if my 09 system can be reprogrammed to recognize the 2013 sensors.

2009 Maxima TPMS sensor part # 40700JA01B
2013 Maxima TPMS sensor part # 407003AN0A

Tech savvy members please help! I need to know ASAP

Just got off the telephone with my local dealer. They say there is a 50/50 chance my system will recognize them... This is almost as bad as the RI weather report.

I asked if that means they don't know or if they're saying sometimes they work and sometimes they do not. He said if I bought 20 TPMS sensors for the 2013 model, roughly 10 would be recognized and 10 would need replacement.

Can anyone tell me more about this incompatibility?

Dont go to nissan. NTB/Tire Kingdom or Discount Tire can put aftermarket sensors in, that are guaranteed to work for a little over $300.

OK that's encouraging as plan B. I'll buy the rims with that fall-back plan. I am still really looking for insight about TPMS compatibility though. I'm hoping there will be no need to change sensors at all
