over bumps, someone said the rubber under the big cap is wore and that is causing it to squeak.

oh s***, same thing is happening to me. At first I had really bad struts and there were dead, so i replaced all 4 . and my passenger side axle since it was torn. I thought the squeak would go away but it wont.

It's annoying... but the part cost like 40 each but then you have to remove the strut which is about 80 bucks as well... so consider it 120.00 to fix.

sucks

I think it's called the rubber strut boot, it's just a small rubber that goes under the cap under the hood, I have to get the fully name of the part, have to find that paper.

I just replaced my suspension, the part you're think about is either the strut bearing or the strut mount. Strut bearing is a plastic ring which may cause the squeaks...I replaced 2 of mine with new suspension but left the strut mounts alone. Worked like a charm.

Definately change out the bearings also if your going to replace the strut mount. I didn't and had to take the struts off again. Got mine from my dealer for about 18 bucks each. You can rent a spring compressor from a local auto parts store for under ten bucks and should be able to pull and swap the parts out in 2 hours by yourself. Get it alligned afterwards if your ride is lowered. Hope dat heps

I have been having the same problem in my car. It would go away when it rained though. However, mine isn't suspension problems its the sway bar end links. When we got under the car and shook it up and down we saw there was play on the driver's side one but not the passenger. Every once in a while I get a "clunk" sound from it too. Going to change it out tomorrow, the part was only 20 bucks from Advanced Auto
