Ebay antenna masts
I bought an antenna mast off ebay recently. I've had a few before, and they worked fine. But I couldn't get this one to go into the antenna tube. I finally realized that the little brass ring (on the end that goes in first) was just a little too wide. So I dremeled it down a little, but I overdid it, and the outer sleeve slid past the ring. You can see the ring here: http://s397.photobucket.com/user/Dbe...vn7ml.jpg.html The sleeve is missing, since it slid off after I overdid it.
I bought another, and discovered the same problem. This time I dremeled more carefully, and got it to work.
The moral: The ebay antennas from Hong Kong are cheap, they get here quickly, and when they work, they work fine. But if you can't get it to slide in easily, you might have to shave the ring a bit. If you do that, keep the sleeve pushed up against the ring so you don't over-shave it....
