2003 maxima break down

Hey I have a 2003 maxima and the other day I was cruising on the highway and my foot would be on the accelerator and I would get no power for a few seconds. This continued to happen on and off for 5 minutes until I wasn't fast enough to be on the highway amd pulled over and it then stalled once I was stopped. Wouldn't Start for half an hour waiting for tow truck, then started once I got it dropped off at my house but only ran for about 3 and a half minutes. I'm hoping it's just the fuel pump. Hopefully someone knows if this is a regular occurring incident for this car or what.

I'm 90 percent sure your fuel gauge isn't working and the car ran out of gas.. The 2002-2003 maxima have a notoriously bad fuel guage. This same exact thing happened to a 2003 of mines. The reason in started back after an hour is due to the gas fumes that enabled the car to start. Same exact thing that happened to me.

Before you take the car to a mechanic or do anything, get a container go to the gas station and get some gas to put in the car. Rule this out! before you try anything else.

I've seen this happened to 3+ 2002-2003 maxims.

Well that would be perfect if it's just a faulty fuel gauge. But the service engine soon light came on once I broke down on the highway though. I really hope it's nothing worse than a fuel pump. Or the alternator possibly?

Well get the codes scanned. Maybe a faulty cam sensor then. Another major issue with these cars.
