Inhibitor or new starter??

I have a 2001 Nissan maxima and I love it. My boyfriend had put some speakers in my car and everything was fine. We went out and came back home, then tried to go somewhere else the car wouldn't start. Next day my boyfriend went to pull apart and got a inhibitor on another maxima and the car started right up. But soon as I cut the car up it wouldn't start anymore. So new went out and got another inhibitor and it started right up again, but when I cut it off it wouldn't start anymore. Do I need a new starter or is something else wrong?

It's possible that the starter won't work when the engine or more specifically the starter is hot. When the engine won't crank over, try hitting the end of the starter motor gently with a hammer. If this makes the starter work, the starter motor has bad brushes in it.

Otherwise, get out the voltmeter and start testing as described in this thread:
