Strange sound

Any one know why I hear like a tap noise everytime i hit a bump at a slow speed. Sounds like im riding it with the front hood Not properly closed all the way. Or It kinda sounds like a bad strut but i know it is not because i just replaced it. It sounds like something is loose. I thought it was the axle but it is not neither the suspension accordinng to the mechanic. the sound comes from my side in the front. Any one know what kind of noise im talking about.

Tranny mount or hood stopper has disintegrated...my top guess

Does your rad support have rust? The hood latch couldve disconnected from it. Maybe the swah bar links that comnect to the lower control arms could be bad. I think thats what there called lol. Good luck!

tapping noise

a tapping noise suggest a small part worn, or loose. start by driving on a smooth road to determine if its really front or rear, top or bottom, then the fun begins get your gloves have this vehicle raised on a "strait rack" one that lifts the vehicle by the wheels as if it was on the ground. then start grabbing and shaking all suspension parts, don't be shy grab with with your hands and shake any rattling you find "investigate" it as a potiential problem until you know its "normal" movment.
rule if it makes the same noise regardless of vehicle stop and go, pitch and roll, its most likely in the body
if it's reacts to those things including speed it's most likley in the suspension, have fun.

That's what the mechanic did. I took it to the shop and i had told them about the problem and they checked for loose suspensions. They said they couldn't find the problem. They even took it for a ride. So im guessing its either transmission mount or rad support.

I am not sure. Around what part should there be rust? And the sway bar links was replaced 2 months ago so im sure it can't be that.

Look at the bottom of the radiator. You will see the bottom of the front rad support. In which there is a motor mount right in the middle. See if there is rust, it could be that the motor mout seperated. Ive seen it before lol not pleasent

The same thing happens to my car. I'm installing coilovers and all new mounts in the front and back, so I'm curious to see if that will have any effect on the noise.

There's two tabs on the bottom of the fans that slide into some slots on the radiator, while the top is fastened with two bolts one is visible and the other is under the air scoop.

Well, here may be your problem (or one of your problems). I should just note that the mount does not have a completely smooth surface. See the pictures below.

If your car has an AT, this is how a good mount should look like; http://www.rockauto.com/info/17/EM-9251.jpg . You can buy it fairly inexpensively from RockAuto.com.
If you have an MT, the mount looks like this http://www.rockauto.com/info/60/A7304.jpg . However, they are interchangeable; I have used an "MT" mount on my "AT" car without any problems.

I got them from the junk yard but the dealer or courtesy nissan should have them...i got an extra set if you're interested...

Try to wedge something like cardboard and close the hood...go for a drive and see if it goes away....is not then proceed to check the mounts...

but isn't this for the transmission mount? Is this what keeps the hood sturdy?
Because I have a automatic transmission.

I had it before on my 2002 maxima. The culprit is the hood latch, I replace the two adjustable rubber (L & R )support that prevent hood vibration. Replace the small rubber in the middle tip of the hood near the latch catch. I also place 3 layers ofh electrical tape on the hood catch,so the latch will lock firmly. Problem solve.

Problem solved!

Bought electric tape. Taped around a gap of the rubber as I was pulling it up taped it to the size of the rubber! It only had 2 in the front. Noise stopped as im driving.
