Sticking Accelerator

I just picked up my 2nd Maxima, a 2003, and am having an issue with the accelerator.

Seems like every once and a while, after I drive, and go to stop, the accelerator will stick slightly causing the car to lurch as the brakes are applied. This only happens when I take my foot off of the accelerator when I'm going slow then applying the brake.

I've done some searching and it looks like it could be a gunked up valve in the throttle body... But more searching reveals that cleaning your throttle body on 5th gens is a bad thing.

What would you guys do? What else should I look for?

As far as my knowledge goes. You can clean the throttle body. But if you move the throttle plate it will need to be reprogrammed using the so called pedal dance. So i guess you could move it and clean it but will have to reprogram it. But since the throttle plate is probably sticking you don't really need to move it maybe you could just spray around the edges of it? Or another way is take the air intake off, Start the car and rev it so the plate opens and get someone to spray it clean. Im sure others will chime in and i hope they do, they can help you more. But good luck!

Dont move the blade or you could meas up the computer . . I did that on my 02
Went through the pedal dance only to find out my ecm was mess up
I found a place in NC called (computer medics ) they repaired my ecm for 140 $ plus shipping .. its been a while so thr price and the exact name might be off a little . But it beat going to the dealer !!!

That sucks for those who have 02 or up have a drive by the wire throttle, unlike the 5th gen has throttle cable don't have to worry about messing up the butterfly plate if you're cleaning it. I have heard horror story about messing with the throttle body that is by the wire and once you play with the throttle plate, it will definitely mess up. Same with the accelerator pedal if you took it off and replace with a new one, again you have to relearn procedure.

Just following up here. It's me. My feet are huge, and I was inadvertently touching the gas when I would hit the brake. The gas and brake pedal are farther apart on the 4th gen, and yeah.... I feel kind of stupid
