depends on your car, mods, especially the tires(slicks?). launching with a 0.0 reaction time and having the tires bite with no swheel spin is what you want...try reving up 3k before you launch...

The clutch should be out, and the pedal to the floor. That's usually how a car goes fast

But Ive always kept the RPM at like 3500-4000 on launch when I raced... seems like the best place. You can go higher than that with better tires too.

Uhhh Chris, you have an auto. If you're launching at 3500-4000 RPMs...

i just learned to drive stick. so, how do u launch fast? i cant really go forward in a stick fast without finding the "zone" to accelerate. u know.. when the car starts shaking. how can u feel that exact spot and floor it at the same time???!

the friction point of the clutch or engagement point is just something you're going to have to get used to...its not something that can be told.

you need to get a feel for it and slowly you'll do it without even thinking about where the clutch is...it'll just be a natural reaction.

for launching, i gradually depress the gas pedal as i disengage the clutch pedal...giving more gas once the clutch pedal is fully disengaged.

my tires suck some serious a$$ so i don't floor immediately...cause it'll just burn through the gear.
i floor towards the end of first gear ONLY BECAUSE MY TIRES SUCK
if your tires are good...then put as much power down while still maintaining traction

changing gears...as you would normally do...but as fast as you can
i don't powershift (keep gas down while shifing) but some people do. i don't think it makes any difference at all, other than putting extra stress on your transmission.

hmm 3500 - 4000k still sound like too much. When ever I do that I keep burning all the way through 1st gear. Even with my heavy @ss wheels.
Or is it that my car has V8 torque

If I dump much over 2500, I spin forever.
I have to feather the clutch from 2000 to bite.

i got a perfect way to take off. just learned it couple of days ago and i've been practicing ever since. what you have to do is keep your rev at 3000 and pull out your clutch right before the car starts moving. but now you are not moving since the clutch is not pulled all the way yet. and i mean really really close to the point where the clutch grabs. then when taking off, you just have to pull out your clutch like less then half inch out, do not dump it, just hold it there for like less then a second. you will notice your car pull pretty good, and once you start moving, just floor the hell out of it. it works wonders for me, but i still need some practice. good luck.

something you have to play around with and practice, this is the way I do it...Rev to 2500-3000k rpm's popthe clutch and as soon as it gets done spinning the tires floor it!
