What other Nissan would be a good grudge match car for the 4th gen max?

I read somewhere a while back about a maxima versus pontiac gtp match up at the dragway. I decided it would be some good fun to challenge another forum group of Nissan enthusiast that like to hit the track.

Here is the question: What car would be best matched for the 4th gen maxima stock vs stock, and moving into mod-land with bolt ons, turbos, and so on.

my first thought was the new nissan sentras (spec v) what do you think ?

On another note: what cars other than nissan would be a good match up ?

thanks

- NA 300ZX manuals
- SE-R Spec-V's are a tad slower but still good competition

You could hit up the Camry guys at www.toyotanation.com There are a bunch of guys there with the older 3VZ-FE V6 and the newer 1MZ-FE that might want to give you a run, but they're few and far between. Performance is about equal between a 1MZ Camry and a 4G Maxima believe it or not. The 1MZ has a little more power, but also a little more weight.

The Solara guys might be a little more interested. www.solaraguy.com A lot of them have various mods, the car was available with a 5spd manual for awhile, and they had the TRD factory backed S/C as well.

The Mazda6 guys might be interested in some friendly racing. Check them out over at www.mazda6club.com/ I read that a guy with a 6s/manual was able to run a 14.9 with just a hacked airbox, so that's pretty competetive.

You could hit up the Accord guys, but the guys that are interested in going fast are far outnumbered by those that just want to "look fast" so maybe not. Plus they're ultra-sensitive about anything with the "N" word anyways.

The BMW 3-series would be good to challenge too, but they'd probably be offended that a mere "nissan" owner is challenging them, even though your car would give a stock E36 M3 a good run for its money.

Not sure what the VW guys are up to these days, but you could try the Passat guys over at www.vwvortex.com/ I'm pretty sure there's S/C kits out for the 90-degree 2.8 V6 and the 15-degree VR6s also. A lot of guys have the 1.8T motor and modded also, so they'd probably put down some good numbers.

I'd give the nod to the E36 M3 over your Max, but they would be a good match. Watch out for the 330cd's, now that would be a good race to watch. FYI They're basically a 330i with a couple performance, asthetic upgrades.

Stock these would blow the 4th gen out of the water, i'm thinking they'd be a bit faster than the 2k2+'s as well

300ZX TT Stock vs. Max w. all bolt on + DR's would be a decent run for another Nissan, although i'm thinking they'd be faster

Modded Z32's

300ZX TT Autos are similar in performance to a stock 4th gen 5 speed right?

Older Ford SHO's...
SpecVs are a tad slower as said above but with a good driver can be good competition.

from what I've heard, yes. I would imagine the top end of the Z is better than the max like from a rolling start.
