6 spd. Launching Issues....

Hey guys.

I went out to the track and have some questions.

I had 18" wheels on w/ 35 psi in the tires and I have JIC-FLT a1 suspension.

1st race: Launch at 3k RPM and suspension set on stiff - I bounced all over the place and my car popped out of gear? WTF

2nd race: Launch at 2k RPM and same problem, car pops out of gear.

3rd race: Suspension set of soft, launch 2k RPM and I spin all of 1st...

What am I doing wrong? What should I be dropping my clutch at? Next time I go im putting 16" on.

You aren't doing anything wrong you just need slicks.

Race track = race tires.

Seriously, every 6 sp Max I have seen at the track has massive wheel hop with street tires. Gotta be major hard on the drivetrain.

I hit a 14.6 before on stock 16" wheels from a 2k max at 25psi...

I wondering if I should try those tires again

Torque! Like Jime said you need some tires...

Put some drag radials on your 16's... it should help out ALOT

There's you're problem. You don't drop the clutch to launch. You must release the clutch slowly and feed it gas in one solid motion. Also, not many of us go WOT until the very top of 1st in an effort to keep spin down.
