Is my car 14 second capable?
Is my car 14 second capable?
I ran at the track the other night, first time running a 5spd here is my best time:
60ft: 2.425
330: 6.647
1/8: 10.091
MPH: 70.97
1000: 13.048
1/4: 15.520
MPH: 90.86
My first run of that night I got a horrific 15.9 @ 92 MPH with a 2.7 60ft
If I improved my traction/launching, do you think I can dip into the 14's ??
BTW: Car is a 95 GLE 5spd with 175k miles.
Thanks
T-Mac

iirc...a 92mph trap would get you very close to 14s. One thing to consider is the elevation of your track. Most 4th gens I have seen dipping into 14s with minimal to no mods are on coastal tracks. Meaning they are at sea level.
I hit 14.9 with a popcharger only...and I had to work for it.
Work on your 60' alone and drop it to 2.2xx and you will have a low 15.3-ish.

Thanks guys. I am thinking I need better tires. My tires suck @ss...
BTW: How are you guys launching? I (think) I dropped the clutch at 2400 rpm and thats how I got the 2.4 60ft. Any secrets ?

Yep I did it myself. 5spd GLE is what I call rare.
My car feels like it should run a 14, my 99 SE-L auto (which is now my sister's) ran a 15.2 and my 5spd feels like it would whoop my 99's @ss
