Hello all,

I just got my 02 SE 6Spd three days ago and finally got to put my Passport G-meter (GT2) to use. Keep in mind the roads here are salty/sandy and traction was an issue, but my best time (out of three) was 14.50@98 MPH. My first two runs were in the low 15's. My car is stock except for a K&N panel filter, full tank of gas and all equipment inside plus two new front tires. Are these G-Meter times accurate?

My G-timer from Passport was within .1 of the track time every single run I have ever made with it. The MPH is dead on too, always within .3MPH. The only thing I am still skeptical on is the HP and Torque calculator, but I have not been able to get to a scale to dial in the weight.

I've never heard of this particular model/brand but the G-Tech is notoriously inaccurate as far as trap speeds go. It's a little better with the ET, but I wouldn't put any stock in it being much closer than within .3s of your real 1/4 mile time.

 

I have taken mine to the track and tested the timer against the times metered at M.I.R. and they have been extremely consistent. It works on good runs as well as on bad runs. I seriously think the only thing that makes it off at all is the spot where you hit the button compared to where you stage. If you follow the directions, and hit the start button as soon as you stage the first light, it is highly accurate. You just have to take your time letting it set up before pulling up to light the second staging light. I can agree that some of the cheaper ones may be off, but this one is built by a really good company.
