1st Time, Need lots of advice

Okay, perfect day for racing, 72 degrees so I went out for a few runs. First, the times...

R/T: 1.078 1.047 .951 1.400
60' 2.448 2.311 2.297 2.269
330 6.813 6.668 6.610 6.551
1/8 10.308 10.225 10.240 10.011
MPH 69.579 68.468 67.373 70.012

1/4 15.820 15.835 15.877 15.507
MPH 90.082 86.926 88.228 90.308

Okay, now the mods: 97SE, 5-speed,Intake, Y-Pipe, Mevi, BBK, 17" 235/45/17, Kumho ASX 30psi, 40 rear, Tokico struts/springs set 4/5.

So... I am pretty dissapointed at my times. I was expecting to see some high 14's. I had problems with my R/T cause I really had no idea how to time the tree, since this was my first time and the track staff werent very helpful.

My launches were at about 3-4K. Wheelhop wasnt that bad (i expected more), but my clutch is slipping bad (170K). On one launch during time trials I launched at 5K and slipped to redline and hit the fuel cut-off... so, I hit an 18 cause I basically shut down after that.

I did make it through 3 rounds of eliminations until I got to race a 14 sec civic turbo on slicks who owned me.

So, does anyone have some feedback? Or suggestions based on my setup??

PS-I have a newfound respect for the drag guys who hit 13's and 14's (you all know who you are)

Reaction time has nothing to do with the times for the 1/4 mile. you can have a reaction time of 1 minute and still run a 15second pass.

- drop pressure to 21psi
- Change that clutch

Theres something going on. My best 3.0 run with ypipe, gutted cat, SAFC tune, short ram intake, UDP and Z32 wheels, was
1/4 was 15.2 @ 92.
60' was 2.35
1/8 was 10.0 @ 72.

You had a better launch than me, but I would think that having a MEVI you'd be trapping higher than 90 at the 1/4. If your clutch is slipping, thats just delaying getting the power to the ground. So thats one thing.

How hot was it at the track? Have you changed your KS?

I think your clutch is the main issue. Get that fixed and hit the track again and report back. You could have other problems but that one is a definite, so fix that and go from there. Can't really give any advice if we don't have any clean runs to look at which according to your post sounds impossible with your current clutch situation.

Fix the clutch, check for a dead KS just in case and then go back and see how you do and report again.

your clutch. your 17" rims too. and depending on your bbk, that probably isn't making you any faster.
