Disccusion of everything that needs to be included to have the best 1/4 mile database

Look, everyone pitch in and lets settle this. What needs to be done to have the best maxima 1/4 mile timeslips database that will be perfect in every way.

It will be a drop down menu, where users can put in what types of setups and year model maximas they would like to research in order to see the times.

this way people will not be #103 on the top times list but can be # 11 if someone is searching for an naturally aspirated, 95-99 Maxima, with manual tranny, and street tires.

We will need all variables to keep people happy. And correct terms for every selection (example: all motor or naturally aspirated)

Lets think this thing out and do it

let the brainstorming begin

Go by Generation, then N/A or FI, then auto or manual, and finally tire type: street tires, drag radials, or slicks.

I would also make it an option to list the fastest 1/8th mile speeds and times also. I have hundreds of 1/8th mile slips and just a handful of 1/4 slips.

There should be separation for N/A bolt-on vs internal work. Y-pipes and headers fit under bolt-on. Cams, porting, swaps, 3.5L bottom end, etc. make internals. PF TB is bolt on?

I would also add that you had to show a scanned or picture of actual slip. I have looked at the database on http://maximaracing.org/timeslips.php and a few of them just don't make sense to me FWIW.

Accurate vehicle weights would be nice too. There should be settings for full interior vs. reduced weight and rules shall be defined for each.

Also NO entry should be added to the list without approval by the database admin. There will always be some that put no value on honesty.

And instead of just defining each gen. the chassis code should be listed as well. This is to help differentiate between the VQ30DE-K powered A33s and the VQ35DE powered A33Bs.

You could get really really specific it you wanted to, but I think motor code, NA or FI, tranny type, and either streets or DR's/slicks would be plenty. You start getting too specific your gonna have like 1 or two maxima's listed under a certain parameter. It definately needs to be kept to 1/4 only, no 1/8 mile

I think people make too much of this and it is all about seeing their name up there....I mean come on...who really cares about the fastest 99 cali spec bolt-on automatic in the 1/8 mile.

Excellent points. But there needs to be a seperate section for the obviously superior I30/I35s

Ceasar- Are you putting this together, or do you need some help?

My times will be with a full interior but i think getting into that is stupid ,making a list for that. Many people take a seat out or two to go racing.
One guy can run a 15.1 and be fastest on the list because he has jack and spare

Rather than have 728 different categories you can search by, I think it would be better to just have a couple main categories, and then a "description" of each run. These descriptions could include all sorts of pertinent information to the run like vehicle weight if known, tire type, modifications.

I think the categories should remain simple. Induction (n/a, nitrous, SC or TC) body type (3rd, 4th, 5th, 5.5th, 6th) and transmission type.

what do you think of how the mustang guys have theirs ? visit this link:

http://forums.stangnet.com/timeslips.php?

they have a sort by drop down menu in the top right hand corner. what needs to be agreed on is how we should do ours ?

we could include year models and some of the things mentioned here rather than some of the things they have , but it is a nice example. we need to just agree with a list of what we need to add to that drop down menu and what will make everyone happy.

I think their design is perfect, we could just have seperate ones for different gens, plus one big one. I think if you copy that format, there would be no complaints. Also, maybe easier to add new times and keep it updated.

Hehehe, and the list grows :P

I like the stagnet layout, kinda. I think that car year, and car "Model" should be seperate.

I was also thinking that there should be a drop down in the edit slip of every Nissian, or atleast the more popular racing ones. To make it easier to sort by, and prevent "other" cars from showing up.

Man, I can easily make this happen! I can include a pull down menu that will sort by:

3.5L 6spd
3.5L Auto
VQ30DEK 5spd
VQ30DEK Auto
VQ30DE 5spd
VQ30DE Auto
VE30DE 5spd
VE30DE Auto
VG30E 5spd
VG30E Auto

And I will also include NA, SC, or TC for each category! I can easily create an ASP page to make this happen. I just don't have the time at all! And I can allow anybody to add any time they want. But, that can get out of hand. It would be best for this to be moderated by somebody. If I had the time, I could easily do it.
