2k2 Auto lost to a 97 Integra GSR I/H/E

Essentially, cliff notes of the comparison ...
The 5AT has a small advantage in the 1/4, but after that the 4AT should be in a 'better' spot in the powerband.
Since when is it easier to get good times out of a torqueless car like a GSR than a car with decent torque like a maxima? The less torque a car has in general, the more difficult it is to get the best times out of it.
Manual 4th gens are a couple tenths quicker than a GSR, call it .3 or so seconds on average, but that difference isn't so significant that a really good driver in a GSR couldn't take out an average or worse driver in a 4th gen.

GS-Rs fast ? I work at Acura as a tech and I find those things verrrry underpowered. I haven't raced on in my Maxima, as I dont like street racing cars with engines the size of a lawn mower. When I get in my Maxima, I have more thrust at 2K RPM in 5th gear than those things do in 2nd gear at 2K RPM.
Also, weight of a car really doesn't have much of an effect when doing roll on races from lets say 70MPH up, its all bout power. Weight diff will be most notable when going from a dead stop, where the engine has to work hard to overcome all that weight. My Q45 runs 15 sec flat 1/4 mile times due to realllllly bad gearing and 4200lbs, but unleash that beast from 70MPH on the highway and I have no problem walking a 3.5L Maxima. My car is geared so weird, it does 60-62 in 1st gear, 100 in 2nd, 145 in 3rd and speed limiter stops all the fun at 150MPH- each shift happens at 7050 RPM fuel cut. Thus 70MPH blasts with VH45DE at full sing are a really positive experience, I will video tape my Q-ship as soon as the engine is put back togheter.

Yeah, but having 310HP and 300TQ also helps out quite a bit- especially since its all top end power
I leave Hondas for kids to race with, I moved on to bigger better engines. Can't wait for my Q to fire up in a few weeks, I got 4K dollars worth of goodies to install on it laying around, and then spring time I'm going to address my poor gearing, and add a few PSI of charge into the engine.
