Is may sound stupid at first, but are our STS's making us slower in the 1/4?

I don't know about you guys, but I feel like my B&M STS is slowing down my shifts during the 1/4. After driving my buddy's Maxima with stock shifter, I could immediately shift a LOT faster. Since the 1/4 is all about getting every tenth, I'm thinking about going back to stock.
Has anyone else thought about this?

well i know with some STS they can actually make you a bit slower in the 1/4 because they are sometimes not a precise as the stock shifter, but switch back to stock and see if its any better?
I had the Pacesetter shifter for aout 1.5 years and hated the notchiness. I had the B&M for 4 hours and sent it back because it was retarded notchy. I then cut my stock shifter 1" and added a weighted ball shift **** and the feel was awesome. The throws were a bit shorter too, but the notchiness was gone and hitting the shfits was far easier. I was neither slower or faster with the Pacesetter.
i also have the couresy sts and it destroys the stock shifter. does it make me faster in the 1/4 ? i dont think so, but the shifts are quick and on the money. Where as i have driven other cars and can see why some people miss shifts at the track.

My B&M was quite notch for the first day as well and i hated it but then it broke in and now its smooth as butter. You should have kept it longer and let the bushing break in.

I loved it. All I did was cut the threads off (~1") then put a weighted aluminum ball shift **** on. Overall, the shifter setup was about 1.5" shorter and had about 20% shorter shifts with absolutely none of the vibration and notchiness you get with all the aftermarket shifters. Most importantly, I keeps the same shift pattern and doesn't move the pattern forward like all the aftermarket shifters do. I loved being able to sit back in the seat with my arm on the armrest, flicking the shifter with just my wrist.
I've got a short throw in my turbo car just because it was in there when I bought it. I actually bought a stock shifter to replace it with because I don't like how it makes the shifter sit forward, but then I installed an AE LSD transmission which makes the shifter sit backward so the two cancel eachother out. I don't think it makes a bit of difference as far as 1/4 mile performance for me though.

How, if any, does your shifting differ from your beater to your turbo car? You really think your shifts are identical?
When I drove my car and then a 4th gen with a stock shifter, I was immediately able to shift faster with the stock shifter, and to be honest, it felt a lot faster, especially from first to second.
Maybe my rebuilt tranny was flawed from the start....
My courtesy was always somewhat notchy. I don't like to blame failure on mechanical parts but I lost several bracket races because it simply would not go in 2nd or 4th gear. Very frustrating. When I screw up because I redlight or go under my dial-in I have no problem admitting it's my fault but when you lose in the finals for 500 bucks because the stupid thing won't go into gear it tends to slightly **** you off.
But my transmission was always a bit notchy. I hear the 2000-2001 5-speeds are alot smoother because of double synchros. If I had kept this car I would've put an AE trans in it.
