Disconnect the EGR and plug it up temporarialy to gain HP?

Ok well im going to run my car this upcoming friday night's bracket racing.. i think i can win cash for 1st-3rd, and i was thinking about ways to gain some hp temporarialy... On the 01 cali spec and 01 AE's they dont have an EGR which is why they have a few more horses than the regular vq30dek... has anyone disconencted their egr and plugged it up while they were at the track?

There's not EGR at WOT so you won't gain any HP.

First, not having an EGR on the 01's has nothing to do with the power rating.

Second, if you are running brackets, it absolutely does not matter what power level you have. It's all about reaction and dial-in. You could run a 20 second pickup truck and beat out a 10 sec Mustang.

Third, as nismology mentioned, EGR is not active at WOT and will not affect the 1/4 mi one way or the other, unless for some reason your valve is stuck open.

instead of blocking it off, just disconnect the vacuum hose and plug it with a golf tee. (look in any good mechanic's toolbox and you'll see a collection of golf tees ).

but as said above, it won't do any good anyway. the EGR only opens at part throttle and closes at WOT.
