What is illogical to question is whether or not you are spinning the tires or the Earth. If every 4th gen 4speed automatic Maxima owner couldn't keep their foot out of it in first or second gears, we wouldn't need daylight savings time anymore.

Now, seriously back on topic of someone brake torqueing to 2500 RPM in an automatic, unless the transmission is modified, that is higher than the stock stall speed on the converter. If that is the stock torque converter, there could be something wrong with either the converter or something slipping in the transmission, either way I would take it easy until the issue is addressed!

In my short experience with the Maxima I have better luck dumping than slipping.

I rev above 2k but way below 2.5k, drop it like it's hot while I'm flooring it, achieved a 2.30 '60 with Potenzas @ 20psi, I also run 41 psi in the rears (max PSI).

As the day got hotter, I bogged the last run and I wanted to do a 2.2k or 2.3k dump.

Mods:
Bomz Intake
WSP Y
Magna Cat
UDP
Exedy Clutch

I had spinning issues until I lowered my psi down to 20, even then still had spinning till I did my quickie burnout, even though that goes against most people's advise w/ all season tires, the quickie burnouts help allot in telling me how the tires are going to hook up that run.

Good luck, takes practice, I was gettin 2.5 60's and now I'm knocking on the door of 2.2s

Just for lolz, here's my worst run to date due to wheel spin. (17.125 @ 87mph)

Even with all the mods in my sig, I barely spin in 1st gear with 245/40/18 exlcaims up front.
