Raced on 8-10-11 :(

EDIT: FOUND MY SLIP!! It was the slip of my worst race which was a 16.8 but my phone is crap so i cant take a picture of it. but look at most recent post to see the numbers.

Raced at Island Dragway in New Jersey on wednesday the 10th. It was cheap and i was undecided when i got there, but it costed the same to race as it did to watch, so i did a couple runs... I dont think that i should have.

I drive a 99 maxima SE, with minor performance mods such as straight 2.5in pipe exhaust from flex to muffler, and intake.

My best run was a 16.7, with a launch of .426. needless to say It was embarrasing.

My car is almost due for the oil change, put a new filter on just before racing, and gave it a quart or two of oil. Any reasons my times were so slow other than it being a 12 yr old car?
Maybe its just me but i thought my car would have been alittle faster than that .

I was still able to beat a couple 2010 sentra's though .

Ouch .... this has to be an auto ... how many miles you got on that motor ?

Do a compression test on it

and practice makes perfect ... do the little maint. stuff and run it again ... if you find it embarrassing just ask them to put you down as NT (Hopefully they do that) that way the time doesn't show on the board and you just get a slip with everything

i went through the same thing when i first bought my car lol...i know how you feel

Car is 5spd . it just seemed slow in first more than anything, but i will definately get a compression test, and get a full tune soon.

i have done a lot of rilling start racing and beaten a lot of faster cars, but from a stop it just seemed slow.

Find that timeslip and post up a pic ... it'll help determine whats actually slowing your car down like that

and stripping your car should be the least of your concern ... 4thgens(5mt) should run 15's STOCK all day

Thanks for reminding me Tom

I think those year Maxs with 5spd should be doing like mid to high 15s in 1/4 mile. You got a y-pipe?? how about a clutch or lightweight flywheel? Those things would do wonders! I had a 97 Max (AUTO) with ypipe, high flow cat, Stage 2 transmission mod, CAI, eibach springs and KYB GR2s. It was pretty quick....even raced a Mazda RX8 and kept up with it.....until top end hit.....that things sucked at top but low to mid was great. It really wasn't even worth reving past 5500 rpm. But it was a great car!!

No Y pipe or clutch, havent been able to get any of that stuff recently because i just got married last week, so im alittle more broke than usual. lol. My car feels fast from a roll, on highways and roads my car pulls, but from a stop it just seemed like something was wrong.

Found my slip, and my phone is too crappy to take pics with the small numbers and all. So i am just going to write them down.

Keep in mind this was a worse run than the orignal posted time, but only by .1 lol

R/T - .425
60' - 2.721
330 - 7.358
1/8 - 11.06
MPH - 66.28
1000 - 14.227
1/4 - 16.85
MPH - 86.07

Needles to say.... Frownface

with a new ks and 2.2 60ft you'll be in the high 14 to low 15sec range

to go any faster I would suggest a mevi/00vi, y-pipe, testpipe, exhaust and jwt ecu. then the car will be good for low 14's all day, high 13's depending on the driving and tires

I think it's about time for a full tune like you said, and get started on mods after that compression test. I pull better times in a 99(auto) with 252k miles and a few mods(00VI, sri, tune, exhaust)

I found a new knock sensor already, just need to get it replaced and do a full tune, i might even race this wednesday if i can finish all that before then.
I already have a straight 2.5 pipe after the flex...
i also found an 00vi im on the edge of purchasing just to get more respect from the numbers lol.
Thanks Thomas and everyone for the help, i will shoot you an update this week if i race.

P.S.- The 60' time is why i almost didnt post this. lol

*facepalm*

have you ever had a Bad KS ?

It doesn't give your car X5 times the torque and make it spin to a 2.7 60 ft

he is an auto *facepalm*

The car is shot down to the ground and doesn't move for **** out the whole

i bet he didn't even spin AT ALL

There is no "Driver mod" here .... *facepalm*

Yes, I had a bad ks before back when I 1st got my maxima and ran a 16.X when the car was a auto with a y-pipe and exhaust. A local org at the track had a scan tool and pulled a code for a ks eventhou I didn't have a cel. Replaced it at the track, reset the ecu and ended up running 5 tenths faster.

After that I got a cai, mevi and dr's and pulled a 14.5 as a auto and 14.2 as a 5spd. Never got a chance to run with the jwt ecu

This graph should explain why the car feels like that, it's a trait of a bad ks

I had a bad 60 foot once, as I launched , my garage door opener fell off and hit my forehead and I went into neutral as I was trying to launch.
