sunroof problem on 1st gen...

my sunroof leaks in the front drivers side corner. there is a small area of rust visable from the top but the seal isnt broken. my dad thinks that the drain is clogged. does anyone know where the drains exit under the car?

I am not 100% sure, but on the 2nd gens, they have a drain on each corner of the sunroof assembly. They go down the respective columns. Anyway, I would keep an eye on the rust spot, even if the seal is good, that rust can allow some water by.

As I said before, this is how it is on the 2nd gen, it could be the same for the 1st gen, but I can't be 100% sure. The front two drains will drain out in the same area the front intake for the heater drains. That drain should be just before the front doors from under the car. The rear ones drain from the sides underneath the trunk.

Watch the rust! Control it now. My '81 has no rust, except around the sunroof. They all rust there, and it can get ugly, fast.

I do not know the answer to your question, though. Even though my roof is rusting around the sunroof, I have no leaks.

There is a drain tube that comes down from the front of the sunroof by the passenger side floor panel. i saw it today when I was laying the carpet.
