Buying my 1st gen Maxima today!!!

It's an '84 FI Auto. Now, it's kinda sluggish, but it's been sitting in this guys driveway for god knows how long, so I'm assuming the fuel filter is disgusting. Is there anything else it might be?

DOn't say the tranny, don't say the tranny.

The distributor on these L6 engines always causes problems. Either its not set right so its too retarded or the vaccume advance is stuck and that effects your power in midrange rpms a lot. Try manually advancing the distributor and see how much more power you get.
Another thing is if the timing chain was never replaced they get some slack in them which causes the valve timing to be retarded. Replacing that or advancing the cam will boost your torque.
Oh, and an auto is just slower anyway. A 5-speed will have better power.
