fuel meter guage
fuel meter guage
My mother 87' Maxima fuel flucuates constantly when car is at idle (more) and while moving. I am suspecting that the fuel pump might be bad? I had changed the fuel filter but not cured. The reason that I thought so is because the volt meter gauge also flucuated and I ended upchanging the alternator and it is fine now. Any input is greatly appreciated!
Hmmm, could possibly be a fuel pump. The only problem I see about looking at the voltmeter is that it's fluctuations are more likely caused by the voltage regulator in the alternator going bad. That's why it's fine now. What other symptoms are you having with the car? I say the best thing to do if you want peace of mind is to get a fuel pressure gauge you can stick inline incoming line going to the motor, and see what results you get from that. If you are indeed getting fluctuations, I would check things like the FPR, the vacuum line going from the FPR to the vacuum solenoid, the solenoid itself. That's a start I suppose.

(the location/cost/installation). If it is easy and cheaper to fix than
replacing the fuel pump, I rather try your suggestion first. Thanks ahead.
