Power flush---good or bad? '87 GXE

At my last scheduled oil change the tech mentioned that the radiator and oil looked dirty and recommended a power flush. I was a bit nervous and told him to hold off this time and to just drain and fill. Should I have any concerns about his advice?

I've got the '87 GXE with about 82k on the dial.

Thanks!

Engine oil-flush?

These things do what they're supposed to, but old engines are very picky. I wouldn't do anything so drastic. Just regular oil changes.
I asked my mechanic about them once, and he said that they do in fact clean everything out, but you have to keep in mind some of the gunk in there is helpful gunk, keeping seals tight and filling out loose tolerances.

With a tranny, you DO NOT want to do a power flush....just a drain and refill. As for the motor and radiator, that should be fine.
