It's too much hassle to do personally. I've tried the bulbs and well...they look like crap. I know Q has done the hi-mount brake lamp without too much difficulty. The people who have done it on newer gens took a long time to make just one....so unless you got a lot of free time on your hands....I'd look at other mods.

well i got the bulbs from autozone but they burn out so quick it would not be worth the money unless you are going to do a custom set up.

I have a question, has anybody ever "smoked" the lenses?

also, where are all of you guys getting clear turn signal lenses for the front bumper? I want them so bad but can't find them :-(

P.S. I will soon be posting pictures of my maxima... I think you enthusiasts will be impressed/happy to see her

I was thinking about LED tail lights because I could make my own and it wouldn't be that expensive. The other things that I want to do would be too expensive at the moment.... I figured this would be a good place to start.

I have smoked lenses on my fourth gen...just look at my homepage. I paid someone to do those, they are actually painted with PPG paint and PPG clear. I know alot of people use stuff called 'night shades' with good results.

As for clear front bumper lenses they are actually a factory part on the Shiro edition maxima. I am pretty sure they have been discontinued thru nissan though...if you talk to that Nissan parts guy on here Dave B he may be able to search his data base for a set for you. There was one other guy selling some on here but I have not seen him on the .org in a while. I picked mine up from a guy selling his on here.

about the taillight smoking, I did mine myself and they turned out fine. I used NITE-Shades brand taillight tint. with that you don't run the risk of the cops not seeing your brake lights in the day or at night. I have had them tinted pretty dark for about a year without any problems from the cops. It ended up costing me about $12 USD for each can of tint, $7USD for clear coat spray paint and another $5-10USD for the fine grit sandpaper I used. I find that you get the best effect when using the sandpaper (should be wet/dry sandpaper), wetsanding will get any imperfections out. This process will take several hours to do yourself with the periods in between tint coats, wetsanding, and time between clear coats. I recommend you do it in a place where there isn't a big chance of a lot of dust getting on it, because that can ruin the finished product.
