when you turn you key to the on position do you hear the fuel pump buzzing? If not then your fuel pump has died

damn man The fuel filter is on the fire wall, the coil is right behind the passanger side head light it black and it has a spark plug wire going from it to the dist. cap.

if you cannot find the fuel filter, follow the fuel lines

also if you pick up a haynes manual from advanced auto that would probably help you out a lot.

the fuel filter is round in shape and if I remember correct it is on the driver side of the fire wall. Also something you may want to check is to see if you Injector recall has been done, just call 1-800-NISSAN1 and give them your VIN, you can find out if your car has had the recall done.

If you are going thru the trouble of checking the fuel filter I would just change it. Make sure you bleed your fuel system of pressure before you do this. But according to you it sounds like you pump is bad so you don't really need to change your filter, but this is something that is considered regular maintence.

If he is a mechanic then ask him why your car won't start

changing the fuel filter is not hard, if you do not mind getting a little gas on you

if it will not turn on and your connection is good I would just replace it...if anything else just for peice of mind so you know its not going to go out again when you are not close to home

I would also check the plugs to see if they are fouled. I have a first gen that I got and I had to use starting fluid to get it to start a little. I pulled the plugs and they were coated with oil! If this is the case, then you should clean the plugs or get new ones. If the engine fouls them again, as was my case, then get some anti-foulers and put them in something like cylinders 1-3-5 or 2-4-6 (you can only put them in half the engine's cylinders). Start it with some fluid and then just keep it going and take it for a trip of about 10 miles on surface streets (it worked for me) with the RPM's in a high range, as in not shifting into 4th gear and staying in 3rd. After that if the other plugs in the engine stay clean, you can remove the anti-foulers.

I did that, the motor now will start fine and the plugs are clean.

87 nissan for sale

hey all, I have an 1987 NIssan Maxima..silver with grey leather interior. I am looking to sell this vehicle because I am tired of putting money into it and I have a new car. Recently it has had a valve job, new rack and pinion, tie end rods/ tie rod ends (whatever they're called), new bushing for the gear selector, new water pump/timing belt (most recent repair), and new struts on all four wheels. Recently the car would not start and I do not want to fork over the money to the mechanic to fix it. It could be one of three things, the alternator, battery, or starter, but the car would not start with a jump so I'm guessing it's the alternator or starter. I live in Riverside California and you would have to find a way to transport the vehicle since is does not start. I'm asking 1,000 obo. The body is in good shape and the car looks good, my parents are the original owner of the car, then passed on to me, and it has been in the family since..let me know if ur interested. Oh and it has 225,000 miles.

There's a product out there made by the same people who make the real Vise Grips (Irwin is the company name, IIRC) for removing damaged or stripped bolts. It is a set of sockets that cut into the head of the bolt to grip it and remove it. It's similar to the sockets used to cut into and remove wheel locks if you lose the key. It costs around $25 for the set of 4-5 of sockets, I believe. We sell it at Pep Boys where I work, you could probably find it at a hardware store or Sears or something too. I've never tried them, but have heard they work really well. Might be worth checking out.

Good luck.

ya, I would have to go with vise grips, or if you could get a new bolt cut it.

Try spraying the bolt with a good "rust spray" ...Liquid Wrench and let it sit overnight.....then what I have done with bolt heads that are rounded and can get with the VG.....get a small sharp metal chisle and hit the corners using a hammer.....and yes be careful not to create a spark...it is a gas tank..surround it with a damp rag.......Once it loosens...then maybe the Vice Grips can get it....
