Wierd Cliclking noise?!?!?!?!

well i was driving about a week ago and i now am hearing this wirerd repettive clicking noise. i popped the hood and it is deffinately internal, was just wondering what it was(but am hoping that it is not a valve slapping on the cylinder head) and the noise is rpm consistant it gets faster as the engine does. also a clicling noise in hard turns both axles were replaced so i not its not those.?? any help.....

my engine mods are:

300zx ecu
300zx MAF

a clicking in hard turns even after the axles have been replaced (why would you need to replace axles these are freakin tough as hell) suggest to me they werent packed with grease enough.

as for the ticking engine wise....exhaust leak?

Bad C/V boot = replace half-shaft. It's cheaper and easier.

E: Can you pinpoint the ticking? I suggest some vacuum hose to use as a stephoscope (or however it's spelt). Just move it around the engine bay until you pinpoint it. How loud is this ticking? Also note you will notice ticking from the injectors....but they shouldn't be that loud.

My bad, I meant joint. Boots aren't too bad...but I'd usually buy a new halfshaft anyway since you can find half-shafts for cheap. By the time you have the boot off, you'd already have a new halfshaft installed.

but i already had both half shafts done could it be wheel bearings? Also the other clicking noise is on when the engine stands still and the sound is coming from the pass side top of the engine....

Nah, bad wheels bearing make a much worst noise than clicking. Can you redescribe the last part....I don't get it...

Has the car been sitting? When I was working on my transmission I drained the oil out of my car because i was also working on my oil pan. When I finally got it back toghther I heard a clicking noise. It was the Valves clicking because it wasnt properly lubed yet. I put more oil in and it eventually got lubed up enough were it you couldnt hear the valves going up again. Just a suggestion.

could be tappets - check your valve clearances. also could be a broken valve spring or some fault in the valve train

Plug wires maybe ????....they do down hill quickly after 2 years in dry climate.... I had the same problem on another car and yes ....it was the a wire shorting out on the engine...it ran bad also......

Easy way to check it pop the hood in a dark area....raise the rpm and if you have a short ....you should be able to see it!!!!!

Use process of elimination....until you can narrow down the area...then do a deep dive!!!
