2 Days to get a 1982 Diesel Maxima - California

Seems like California is the place he ought to be, so he loaded up the truck and he moved to Beverly.

Here's another Maxima up for grabs in Torrence, California. It seems to have very low mileage and looks in great shape. This one's a diesel.

Wow, what a sweet find! I'd imagine that it's cheap on fuel, too, since it's a diesel. I've never actually seen one of these in person, it's a shame it's all the way out in CA.

I've got an 82 Maxima diesel. Not as good shape as this one is though.
88,ooo miles. Picked it up on NJ this fall. Runs great. Good milage.
It actually likes biodiesel I make for it better than petrodiesel.
I get 32 mpg on bio and only got 27 with dino.
I want to put an overdrive if some sort into it. Then I think I'd be looking at
40.

That's great. I saw a 1st Gen Maxima Diesel last year on Ebay - I think it was from Florida - where the owner had it modified to run on used restaurant grease and/or diesel. If I remember correctly, the modification took up room in the trunk.

That's the straight vegetable oil (SVO) conversion. You need an extra tank so you can heat the SVO up to about 160 degrees before you can use it.
Biodiesel is processed with sodium hydroxide and methanol alcohol. After the process you can dump it into the tank and run with it. no modifications to the engine at all. Like the smell of it too. It's got it's own odor. NOTHING like dino.

No modifications? I thought you had to have a seperate fuel tank because you can't run the biodeisel until the engine is at operating temp?

Read my previous post again. That's STRAIGHT VEGETABLE OIL.
Biodiesel is different. It needs processed FIRST, then dumped into the tank and
run. NO MODIFICATIONS what so ever to the motor.
OH!!!!!! this IS used vegetable oil from my local restaurant.

Yeah biodiesel can be used in place on regular diesel oil, no mods necessary. A friend of mine has an '83 F250 Diesel that he runs on used cooking grease, he fuels up at all the pizza places in town! The BTU content isn't high so it's not that efficient, but the grease is cheap enough (free) that it doesn't matter. He had to add another tank in the bed and some filters for the grease, it still has a tank of regular diesel oil for starting up and as reserve.

bcdivad, I also own an 82 Maxima diesel. Here is a website you should check out that is specific to the 81-83 Maxima diesel and its powerplant the LD28 diesel. Here is the link: nissandiesel.dyndns.org I'd recommend to join the message board, because there is great info and helpful members with a lot of insight. Hope you take a visit, along with any other members here who own a Maxima diesel.

This is one reason people want these. Notice that the nice gas model would not get that much, maybe 1500 at most.

The bio fuel stuff maybe driving up the price. I noticed that another one on ebay went for about that.

I sware, if I find the car or the LD28 engine I will buy it.

You guys can use any 4 or 5 speed from the 240z-280z and the 280zx cars. It bolts right up since both are L series engines.
