My max wont start!HELP!

I recently replaced the fuel pump and a relay in my max, after it was sitting for over 8 months. I thought the fuel pump would do the trick, but it still won't start. I got it to start ONCE, and when it did start, it was running very rough, and it backfired through the intake, and there was smoke coming out of my CAI.

Would any vacuum lines cause the car not to start? I need some help on toubleshooting this, there are allready a few things i tried, but none worked.

Ok I got it to start finally, I had to put new gas in it. It starts and runs now.... But it is extremly rough runing! It feels like i've lost a couple of clyinders, i should probably check the compression in each clyinder. Maybe new wires would help... hmm...

Any ideas? Anyone else had this problem? Is my engine done for???

Yes, you are screwed. The only way you can fix this is by transplanting a chevy 350.

Well think about what a car needs to run, needs spark and fuel. (sometimes air)

When u start it, does it run better when u push the gas pedal?

How high is you mileage, if its over 100k I would replace or clean the spark plugs, sometimes oil leaking down from the valve stem seals cover them up after sitting for a while, the symptoms you told me sound liek this, it happend to me before.

A bad MAF would have the car starting for a second, then shutting down.

I think this has happened in the past before, the car usually runs after it is warmed up a bit and actually driven. Im gunna try to get it out tomorrow and drive it. I think its time for the VG30ET swap.

As far as the 350 goes.. In transplanting a chevy SB V8 with twin turbo's into an 85 Z31. Wouldnt really work on the 2nd gen max's.

My 85 max is doing strange things need help

Hello all, new to the maxima.org here. I have an 85 max SE vg30e 5-speed. I am having issues, i turn my AC on and my voltmeter went down below 12, which is unusual. It usually is right at 14+ volts with the stock 70 amp alt. It has been rather hot lately, but it has never put a load on the system like this before. I turn it on and everything from my wipers to my blower slow down, like its putting a load on the system, more than normal. I was sitting at the drivethru and turned it off, tried to start it back up and nothing, maybe 8volts. Glad its a stick, lol. Anyone have any idea's? Thanks again

Jimmy

Is that all you think it could be? Because with all the running around with the A/C on lately i figure it would run the battery down and wouldnt start at all.

it might only just be charging enough to run the accessories and keep the battery charged just enough to start it. have the alternator and battery tested and you'll find out for sure

If you said its been sitting for 8 months then you probably need your plugs and/or injectors cleaned. To test your MAFs, unplug the electrical connector. You'll get black smoke out the exhaust but it will run. Dont gas it too much or it will cut off. If it stalls when you connect it, culprit found.
