Although not the original owners this is one we picked up for my son to tinker with. Pretty good car 213k on the clock but still pulls hard, shifts great and rides good. However, I do think it is going to make way for a Q45 soon. He has taken a liking to the 98-00 cars. He got disappointed when trying to find coilovers for the '87.

Pics are a must! And welcome! As you can probably tell, kinda slow around here. Not too many of us 2nd gen owners left, I guess...

@smiller, welcome friend. It'll be nice to bring this forum back to life. In reguards to your window shades, I did some internet searching and it does appear that those are discontinued. You may have to remove the others or see in you csan get some 3rd gen shades to fit. The pillar shape is'nt that different.

Thanks! What model should I start with to get a match? All I really need is the left rear visor which is 20 inches long.

Passed emissions once again, not to bad for being due for a tune up and oil change.

Hi, I have an 86 max

Bought from Original owner at about 145k in 1999. It has 309,748 miles now, I'm shooting for 400k. The heads never been off and the injectors original.
I have replaced just about everything else though :-)
Still running sweet.

just did front struts and oil change in the new shop on Sunday, didn't get my extra intake polished, went to a party instead of doing my lower intake so didn't get that put on but here is a shot of the new shop. Now if only Fever Racing would get my parts here I could get started on my 200sx and get that done so I could start building my Maxima......

Not my shop, it's my buddies, he lets me use it and I do some work for him from time to time (job #5).... He mainly works on RVs, there will be another 2 post going in to the right of that one.

Yes it is nice having it to use, job #5 mainly pays my rent there.

well off to deal with Fever Racing sending my stuff to the old shop even after I told Doug Mitchell that the shop was moving and that address wouldn't work after the first.....

That car is now in New York. Transambandit is the proud owner. I still have the wheels though. They are for sale on craigslist. XXR 531's complete with rings and lugs $500.

in short, take 3rd gen parts put them on a 2nd gen, then ones that won't work are the 92-94 SE since the front knuckles are different for the VE irrc they are bigger shafts.

so you want parts from 89-94 GL or 89-91 SE, then it's just a matter of bolting in parts irrc

I think I get you on the front hubs..remove tie rod and ball joints axle but and bolts for the struts and take everything that comes with it? Or just the hubs? Are those rotors/calipers much better to have or should I leave them behind?

I think you are going to want all the brake stuff, pull the rotors if you will be charged for them and get new ones.... not sure about the struts you could just measure the bolt pattern for the strut and see if it's the same, I want to say the strut is different, i think the lower mount for the strut is different from the 85-86 to the 87-88, don't know if it changed for the 3rd gen, but if you are doing that much work already you will more then likely want to put new struts in anyway....... for the ball joint not sure if that changed as far as the taper size but i'm sure it's the same 3 bolt mount on the control arm, but those are cheep and not a bad idea to have new ones......

if you are pulling parts yourself in the junk yard don't forget a braker bar and a decent size pry bar, and a BFH. Should be able to wedge pry bar between lug bolt and brake bracket to get cv shaft lose......

I have a few random new parts like top mount for strut that I never used if you are interested.

Im finding more and more interesting interchanges from different years of VG30. Performance wise anyway. Havent done much legwork on suspension upgrades yet, but Vern is right. Your only real choice is to use 3rd gen parts. Some are direct bolt on, Ive found you can make alot of stuff work with some modification. The level of modification varies tho LOL!
