as long as its not from a turbo model Z31 i'm about 60% sure its plug and play, i dont know about any gains but Z31 used the same VG30E as 2nd gens. Big E-Dog is good on ECU's and knows quite a bit on the swap so he should know

its in the mod forum. all the 300zx ecu fit in the maximas turbo or non turbo. i was runing a turbo ecu in mine. higher rev limit and you will need to use the maf which is better for an intake setup due to it being cilyndrical (<---i know i hacked that spelling up LOL!) in shape

I might be misunderstanding....but do you need to use the maf if you use a non turbo 300zx ecu? Or is it needed for both ECU's?

no you do not need to use the 300zx maf sensor on the maxima. the diff between the maxima and the 300zx maf are that the maxima has a squer inlet and a round outlet, witch will riquier you to buy an adapter to put on the maxima unit so you can hook up a aftermarket intake on it. the 300zx unit has round inlet and round outlet, witch means you can just hook up a aftermarket intake to it without an adapter.... but no 300zx maf is not riquiered

maybee arsonist is right i just used them both together and then the injectors as well for the turbo swap. found the 300zx maf quite handy for intake setups.
