Does this apply to all 86-88 maximas? I went to the dealership and they ran my vin and said nothing came up and they knew nothing about it. Should I call another dealership or did this not apply to all maximas? Thanks!

 

I went into dealership about the injectors, and they looked it over and went back on records and said the our 88 maxima was covered under the recall but that it was already done by my Girlfriends grandparents (Previous Owners).

Since I got my car 86SE new, Nissan sent me the notice. I had it done, stopped the gas vapor that I could smell. Made no difference in gas mileage or the way the car ran.

The injector recall campaign ended is what Steven's Creek Nissan told me. I just bought an entire injector kit from http://courtesynissan.com for $298 which came with new injectors, harnesses, o-rings and everything else you need. My 87 SE runs awesome now. Any 87 Max with original injectors is probably in need of new ones anyway so you should replace them either way.

 

A friend of mine had an '88 that hadn't had the injecter mod done to it and the car burnt down to the ground about 5 years ago. According to the paperwork I got with my '87, the mod repaired the seals and the fuel rail that came in the car to prevent them from leaking. This is something that you're definately going to want to check out as soon as possible. It's probably been done but, you don't want to find out otherwise by trying to put out the fire before you lose the whole car.

 

Yes the fuel injector recall is for the 85 to 88 models also the 300zx.. And if the dealer tells you the recall has ended they are flat out lying!!!! Thats outrageous!!! I work for nissan and we still get an occasional recall.. I would contact nissan and complain if you were told the campaign has ended. 1-800-nissan1 Good luck!

 

I also got mine checked, and they said the same
thing....no recalls found or needed.
