Fuel Check Valve

I've an 87 Maxima wagon and I'm having an impossible time locating the fuel check valve for the gas tank . OEM part 17330-32P00 Does anyone know where i may locate this part. I'm experiencing poor gas mileage, the smell of gas from the filler door area and sometimes gas sprays out of the tank because of pressure issues.

you probably have a sticked valve. I know you can't get replacement for it, I would get some Lucas Injector cleaner and put it in the filler, the lubricant can help unstick the valve. I get occasional problem when I fill my gas, it keep shutting off the pump even the tank not even filled yet.

Thank you so very much for your suggestion on how to manage this issue. I will let you know in a few days if this solves the issue. I was so bummed to think that i might have to simply tolerate this problem because could not source a suitable replacement. I just drove my 87 Maxima from FL to Santa Fe, NM and aside from that issue, I was amazed at how very comfortably it rode. Most cars give me a back ache after a few hours but not in the Maxima, even driving 10 hours every day!

So not sure what your talking about, if you are having pressure build up in the tank you will want to look into the vent to the charcoal canister under the battery area, or fuel cap, for the vent there is a valve on top of the charcoal canister that has the vent and vacuum lines if the vacuum line for it is broken then there is a chance it's not releasing the pressure into intake to burn the vapors.
