Key wont come out of ignition....

saturday after coming home from a friends house i pull into my driveway and put the car in park. Well i turn the car and and try to get the key out... key wont come out, so i turn it back on then off again and try to get it out... but it still wont come out and the wheel wont lock. Ive tried again a few times with no luck, im guessing the sensor that reads if the shifter is in park or not is broken... anyone have any other ideas on what it might be, and if it is the sensor how could i go about gettin this fixed?

There's a sensor on the shifter that disallows you from taking your key out of the ignition??
Damn, that bothers me, I need to replace my ignition switch, but I like the fact that I can just pull my key out at any time

there's a manual release switch if you need to get your key out

you can see it here:
http://www.annulardesign.com/maxima/pics/keyrelease.jpg
it's the small red button just above the button you normally push to release the key

also, you may want to look at that whole page http://www.annulardesign.com/maxima/keyrelease.shtml
it shows how to make it so you dont have to push the brake to release the key which might be your problem

was driving down the highway and all of sudden *SMACK* window falls down... and wont go up... but when i press the button i can hear the motor like it is going up, and down... but window isnt moving.. could it be anything besides the motor like coming off track or something? or is it the motor? im gonna go check it out right now.

ok took off door panel and this is what i see.... this is going to sound stupid because i dont know the name of these parts so bare with me..

when i press the button for window to go up... the thing(motor i guess) spins and pulls the chord up but window doesnt move, and vice versa with down button... could it still be the motor? or something else?

Thanks in advanced.

Does the cord look like it is a tangled mess around the plastic spool? IF not is the cord attached at the other end?

look on my page at the window regulator pics, I believe that's teh piece you're talking about. The regulator has a spindle and a couple cables coming out of it that physically pull the window up or down

some have tried to fix it themselves, but I think you're better off replacing it with a new one from Courtesy Nissan (www.courtesyparts.com) , their website says the new regulators are better and wont break like the older ones

This happend to me. . . all you have to do is take off the door panel and lift the window up with your hand and the on the botten of the glass you will find a tab with two screw wholes. then press the switch to move the motor up and u will see another bracket with two wholes in it just find the screws (probably down rolling around in the door) and screw the glass tab onto the motor bracket. and now your window goes up and down. should only take 5-10 mins

the little ball(or whatever) on the chord moves up and down with the chord and it isnt tangled or anything... still regulator?

and i didnt read that other thread... and was making it go up and down alot i guess, then put the panel back on and hit the button makes it go all the way down at once... and now i dont hear the motor when i press the button.... did i burn out the motor?
