blue gauge light

so i went to discount auto parts and got some cheap blue 194 bulbs to replace the ugly green ones behind the gauges. when i go to turn the lights on at night they look exactly same as the green ones did. is there some more green paint between the bulb and the gauge or did i just buy the cheapo lights? anyone do this with any success?
thanks

Re: blue gauge light

Well. . . . I did the same thing except i didnt go to the "discount auto parts store". Thats your problem. . . . you need to get blue lights that are truely blue. Sometimes you can buy a blue bulb thats cheap and it will turn green after time. Go to www.hiper.com (i think thats the site) or www.custommaxima.com and buy some blue 194's. That should solve your problem. Hyper white bulbs also look good back there.

it's different for SEs and GXEs

GXE gauges have that green tint built in to the gauge face

SE gauges dont so you can change the color of the bulb pretty easily

The only thing you could do with GXE green coated guages is to make them brighter with hyper white bulbs.. Thats what I did. I stuck Polarg Hyper white bulbs back there, and it gives a brighter green look..

aww that sucks... so there's nothing for GXE to do but to go indigo/reverse cuz we can't change the color...

I wonder if anyone has replaced their SE gauge bulbs with different color and can post pictures? I'm curious how it will look like.

hey, i got a GXE and i replaced my gauge lights with blue lights and they shine blue. No green tint to it, it might be b/c i have blue LED 168/194 bulbs in there. I like them but they shine too much in spots. i'm thinking about getting xenons instead so the light will spread instead of being in spots.
