Exhaust leaks

Do exhaust leaks cause a loss of power or torque in any way?....what are the side effects if i don't fix them?

Loss of power....less gas effieciency...annoying sounds.....will eventually get worse if you don't fix....hmmmm.....what else

Can a leak really cause a significant change in power and gas efficiency? I know it makes a difference but, I'm wondering if my whole problem is ALL the exhaust and not other things (I already know the O2 is bad and will replace it soon). Hehe. I kind of like my exhaust leak now. I don't just have an exhaust leak though, my muffler also resonates at about 2.2k rpm and keeps resonating up until about 3k. It was pretty funny because I was driving next to a guy in a v6 Stang and he heard me take off kind of hard. Long story short, we pulled up next to each other at the next stop and he said my car sounded mean for a V6. I told him I had a 300zx Turbo engine swap (turbo spool- hence the exhaust leak/resonance!) and was putting down 350fwhp. The cool thing is that he believed it but, I told him I couldn't race since I was still breaking the engine in!

Well, mine has gotten worse so it almost does sound like a turbo. It's just a hissing noise.
