hi guys, i was just wondering how much would it cost for a good or decent hi flow cat and how do you think labor would be too? any welding or bolting? also, can someone explain to me what a y pipe and b pipe is? do they do anything for porformance and sound? i like it loud, hehe. before when i was talking to some people they said if i cut off my resonator pipe it would help with loudness and performance but after i cut if off and replaced it with a straight pipe i barly even see a d@m difference. so is worth it to get the y pipe and b pipe? and how much do they they cost? and labor too? sorry for all the retarded newbie questions but i really want to redo my whole exhaust. thanks guys, any input would be much appreciated =) ps - i remember stumbling onto a site with a good illustrated/drawn diagram of a max with y pipe and b pipe explaining what they are what they do, i can't seem to find that site, anyone know the address? thanks again =P

OK All of this I learned in the past two months since I joined the forum so guys if I misquoted please correct. A Y-pipe (On maximas it actually looks like a lowercase f) is a f-shaped pipe that comes out of the 2 headers, front and back. A b-pipe is the one that starts after the catalytical converter and goes all the way to the muffler. the stock Y-pipes are usually restrictive. They are designed to provide a balance between low end and high end power. If you replace the entire exhaust system from headers back then you will loose some of your low end power however, you will gain sufficient at the high end. If you replace just the y-pipe and the muffler you will achieve little bit of both. Where can you buy it? Several companies make it starting from Stillen, Cattman, and Warpspeed. Warpspeed has recently started making it and I have heard that it is very reasanably priced and works just the same as the other two. Cattman has several fitting problems. If you want a very loud muffler, I have heard from people that Greedy is the loudest. Somebody got a noise pollution ticket from it.
