correct NGK spark plug for a 94 SE
What is the correct NGK spark plug for a 94 Nissan Maxima SE? My factory service manual says NGK PFR5C-11 (stock number 2271). Courtesy Nissan says NGK PFR5G-11 (stock number 2647). When I questioned them they stuck to the PFR5G-11 saying that the manual was outdated implying that Nissan made the change. I know the 95+ Maxima uses the PFR5G-11. What is the correct plug for the 94? Is it common for specifications like this to change?
Also has anyone tried the new NGK Iridium plug?

Well, this is new news. Courtesy says PFR5G-11, while all original documentation (10 years old) says PFR5C-11. I think I'll ask a local dealership tomorrow about this.
Has anyone seen both types of plugs? According to the NGK decoder guide, the C and G just refer to special firing end design. C is "low angle ground electrode", while G is "fine wire nickel alloy center electrode".
I'm just glad this came up now - I need plugs soon!

I agree. Any plug will work just fine if it has the same thermal number and gap. The simplest way is to buy from the dealer as he will always have the right plugs in stock.

i have the NGK Iridium IX plugs and they are great. they are a step colder but you have to order them from performance parts sellers online because any parts place is going to tell you that they do not make those plugs for our cars (but they do) ngk does not have a listing on there site for our model cars either. you are going to pay a premium for these plugs but they are worth it. about $10 or more apiece they claim to last about 50k though so you will not have to change again for awhile. and they will hold up to nitrous i was told. hope i have been some help. jonathan
