1992 Maxima won't crank

My daughter stopped to get gas and when she went to start the car back it would not start. It would turn over but would not crank. I messed with the emmisson controls fuse's and it cranked and she drove it home. Then went to back it out of the driveway 15 minutes later and it did the same thing. Jumped the fuses, but did not work this time. 1992 Maxima v6. Turns over real good, just will not crank.

Take the hose off the fuel filter, then have someone try and crank it, see if you are getting fuel running through the line.

Anybody else catch this one?

Your car cranks or turns over, but will not start.

I have way to much free time on my hands these day.

no, he was trying to say that the 4th gen owners 95-99 are in the 3rdgen forum 89-94, and to stop making trouble...

your in the right place though.

I had the same problem.I was check the distributor cap and when i went to turn it on the max would just crank but not turn on. After i looked over the area... i found this plug with a red tip on it and i was like, i never seen yah before. it comes from the distributor cap and runs to the top of the starter it look like.it just came loose, so i took the plastic cover off near the top of the starter and connected the plug there.. i jumped in to the max, and vuala, it turned on.. can some one tell me what was that plug name? taht little thing cause big problems almost like the spark wasnt geting it to run the max.

coil is a almost right in front of the dist. there's a cover over it. the OEM plug wires have a red boot on the coil. if it's not a clean connection...clean it..dielectric grease helps.

Re: 1992 Maxima won't crank

Check the fuel pump relay by the trunk and the ECCS cont relay under the hood next to the battery..(it is a black box lined up against the fender from inside) They are both green relays that cost about 10-20 dollars from Nissan.

Sorry Its hard to tell sometimes, thanks for the info, my husband will read all of this when he gets home and try these things. It's almost dark when he gets home and has little time and our teenager has no patience, its our fault it is doing this but we can't complain, real good car for her since she is a beginner driver and I like the way it handles. thanks again
