remote starter for my 93' SE 5speed??

Anyone have directions on a remote starter install for a manual? Curious becasue i met this guy at school who has a remote starter on his 5speed 3000gt. Was wondering because im interested in getting one if possible. Also would Circuit City or any other shops install one of those on a manual?

First of all, as an installer for 10 years, I'll tell you... IF you can find a retail chain that'll put a remote start in a manual trans car, then you're a good one. For the most part, it's asking for a lawsuit.

But it can be done. THat's not tht problem. I had one on my 300ZX TT, and the key is wiring it so that it'll ONLY (and I can't stress that enough) start when the tranny is in neutral.

What kinda system are you using? Or if you need one, let me know, cause I sell/install remote starts all the time.

Well, Mike... I've got a remote start specifically made for manual tranny cars, but you'd have to add the alarm to it. I don't know the manufacturer off the top of my head, but I can check when I get home today and post it later on. That is, if you're interested. But to put it in the simplest of terms, you're gonna have to have a remote start with a ground trigger wire that'll keep the system from activating unless it does or does not receive a ground signal. In my case, my ground signal was coming from my shifter, but others use the e-brake. So, when the e-brake was engaged and/or the shifter was in the neutral position, the unit would get a ground signal and it'd start.

Probably a bit more complicated, but that's the best I can do on just one cup of coffee today!

I've got the Cool Start RS900 IV, no alarm. It's wired to only start when the transmission is in Neutral.

did you keep the stock factory alarm? also, from the way this sounds, it seems like you dont have to deactivate the alarm to start the car: true? Because if you have the stock alarm run in line with a remote start, then logically, itwould require you disabling the stock alarm before starting the car. true / false? anybody with the above scenario?

Yeah I kept the stock alarm. The Coolstart disables it when I unlock, or you can use the old fashioned key.

oh....the coolstart also has the unlock function for disabling the stock alarm on it? Just checked that page, and came to the conclusion that i wont even attempt trying to do that myself. Guess I have to fork out 70-100bucks to someone to do it for me.

The one that Lordrandall has is the one I have to sell. $70 shipped and it's yours. I only opened it to make sure everything was in it. Let me know.
