Just think of a 3rd gen SE with the new 3.5 in it with a 6 speed. They should make that the Special Edition and only sell it to maxima.org members.

Well, tne next Maxima will switch to the Altima chassis, which means full independent rear suspension once again.

Lets hope it has independent rear. I really don't care anyways. From the pics I've seen the nex gen is one ugly Max.

u know what....

thats because the earlier max's were one of a kind. nothin else for the money would beat it. now. everyone is tryin to be like max and are succeeding in it. so thats why i think its not getting the credit it used to get. shur u can go on about the IRS and the better interior quality but this is 2002 and people got high expectations. my 2 cents

A friend asked...

...if I could buy a new car (considering WRX and a few others) or buy my Maxima new as it was in 1993, which would I choose? I would choose my max. Sounds strange, but they just don't make cars like this anymore. Honestly the closest thing to as nice as the 3rd gen Maxima is today is (in my opinion) the Acura 3.2CL Type-S. The interior reminds me of the Maxima, and the rest of the car looks pretty nice (except the tails). Too bad it's FWD...

Anyway, imagine a 3rd gen (mine for example ) w/ the VQ35DE, 6spd, and a few other improvements. DAMN. Now THAT would be a nice car.

Make it RWD and you have a world-beater guranteed. A daily driver/sports sedan that can kick *** on the track. Yeah.

A buddy of mine has a 3.2 TL Type S. His auto tranny is already messed up @ 25k miles. His old 3.2 TL with ~25k miles before it's tranny blew up too.... Doesn't sound like Honda quality to me...
