Is it possible to get...

A 1992-94 Nissan Maxima SE 5-spd with less that 80,000miles on it for less that $4,000 I'm really strapped for cash and I want a really good reliable car, like a 3rd Gen Maxima! Could I find one this cheap...or am I dreaming.
oh and I'm a teenager workin' minimum wage .

Possible? Yes

Probable? Heck no

Good condition VE 5spd's are rare enough as it is. Low-mileage good condition VE 5spd is insanely rarer.

IF (and that's a big if) you found one that nice/low mileage it'd probably be at least $5k or so.

I bought my 92 SE two years ago with 71,000 miles and I paid $6,200 from the first owner. Well worth it check my homepage and I never had a problem with it. I wouldn't sell it for the world but for the right price I would

Dont get hung up on mileage. A car with 200k miles could very easily be in better shape than a car with 80k. It all comes down to maintanance and care car.

Take each one case by case, check em out, ask for records etc. Mileage is just a number, not a 'label' if you will of the cars condition.

Ive got 189k and it runs better than my gxe with 100k did, so it is about maintainece

btw you could get a high milage or blown engine VE for cheap then pick up a jdm VE for around $1300 with about 30-40k, Im getting my new engine soon, from an importer

Yes maintainance is very important and I maintain my car pretty well, tune-up's anually, oil change every 2,000 miles and I treat the paint with the three step meguiar's stuff. Yes a car with more miles can be better but having less mileage can be something comforting in some situations to a person in a market for a car.

The best place to look is www.autotrader.com , you can do a nationwide search.I don't think you'll find one like you describe for the price you gave however but it's worth a try just take your time and be patient.

eww a van

dont forget, 3rd gen's tranny problems. and since you're only 15 also consider gas consumption and maintence.

I live in toronto and I have a 91. If I was to drive to niagra falls dont know how far that is... about 300kms(2hr drive, about)? He drove his 91 VW passat with a full tank of gas, we went there spent the weekend there, drove around, came back and he only used 1/2-3/4 of his entire tank. WHERE AS I WOULD HAVE SPENT FREAKING close to double.

bahhh!!!

If I was you, for my first car I'd get an americano. It's cheaper to repair, buy and maintain. I dont know how they stand on gas consumption though.

I bought my 89 Maxima gxe for $450. The car has no rust, no fading of the paint, I rip in the drivers seat leather, All records including a transmission rebuilt about 20K miles ago, and the last owner for 10 years. The problems with the car are as follows
Digital Speedo not working
Hole in y pipe.
Car is dirty (haven't had time to wash it.)
