fixed the window problem

My window on the passenger side would go down but not come back up.
I heard it couldn't be fixed. With my very limited cash I was just going to live with it but it bugged me till I ripped out the regulator and solved the problem. As you probably already know there is a plastic peice that holds the cable that usually breaks. All I did was took the window completely out and drilled a hole in the metal bracket and put a nut and a bolt and lock washer through it. Put the window back in and clamp the cable from the regulator between the nut and bolt, like you would for a brake cable on a bike. At first the window seemed to slow down right before it got to the top but it is working fine now. If it is slugish you can spray silicon on the window track and it is a good idea to spray some on the track in side the door while you have the door panle off. good luck

Whoa.

Good fix, I would have tried that on my regulators but the cables got jammed each time so I had to replace them anyways.

Me too.

I had the drivers side rear do that and I drilled a hole in the broken plastic piece, and sealed the rest of the guides to the cable with aircraft safety wire and worked fine for about 3 years. I finally broke down and bought both sides when the passengers side regulator went completely out.

In life you choose your battles, and replacing a $60 part after it's been wokring for 10 years doesn't feel that bad. Nissan SHOULD have made the parts out of metal anyways, or made the plastic parts replacable for let's say a $10 kit.

I agree. The window regulators are the sh**ts.

13 years and 175K on my SE, still rolling 600 miles per week. The only thing I have relplaced that wasn't a wear item (brakes, belts hoses) is the window regluators. I shouldn't complain, but I will.
