nissan 90' trivia - give it a shot

I jsut had manifold job done - both sides.... had resurfaced. blah blah - Got my car back two days ago!!! - and now its iratic... it will start to run like one of the spark wires/plug is out/disconnected... but then it seems to get better - only to sneak up again. All I have done is added oil <it was low> and adjsuted the throttle body sensors <the two wires attached to top of engine/case connected to throttle body> The shop says this has nothing to do with last job done that cost over a thou, and it would be 60-100 to hook it up to machine to see what real prob is..help - anyone else know what problem I might be having? does it link to the manifold job recently? Will I get this fixed and stop feeling all down until then? stay tuned to see...

Well, if you have a CEL on, take it to Auto Zone and they can hook it up to a scanner to read the codes. If not, it could be any number of things. Try to narrow it down to which cylinder it is, and go from there. It could be a spark plug, wire(coil if it's a VE), and injector, etc. Try and do this yourself though, because it can be expensive. Pick up a Haynes manual and see what that has to say. Good luck!

What are you referring to as CEL? I know how to check the ECU myself - would this tell anything?

check engine light; if that's on, you can just check the ECU codes yourself

the tool that the shop would probably hook up is the Consult tool and it plugs in to some large harness near the fuse box. I'm not sure what all it can tell you though
