headliner replacement

my headliner gets pretty cracked and dirty. The foam under the cloth has come out. I would ask you guys how to remove the old headliner and put on a new one. and also where to get a new headliner, if ther is a fake-leather kind it will be great.

to remove the headliner you have to take all the trim around it off(ie around the doors, the 1/4 sail panels, the dome light, visors, etc. you can buy a replacement headliner at any auto parts store like autozone, pep boys, etc. i dont think they have any pleather liners though, only cloth. the only alternative is getting vinyl from a upholstery store. keep in mind that may be too heavy and fall down too.

Exactly what he said. If you really want to take your time and do it correct remove the entire headliner. Peel of fabric and foam to the bare board, you may have to use a wire brush on the foam. Get the board completely clean and spray with glue in a can. Apply new headliner material and trim where needed, go back in reverse order. Then marvel at how nice/pretty a new headliner looks

i would not recommend any sort of pleather. an idiot friend of mine tried that...it doesn't have enough give (stretchyness) for the corners and all of those kind of places so it looked liek crap. it was real rinkly. if your headliner was perfectly straight, then yes a pleather headliner would look awesome, but it's just not the kind of material you need for a headliner.

they dont delete them so that you can go through them and find the answers to a question you may have. if it's on page 204 the reason why it's that far back is because it's old.
