Re: taking the A/C belt off...

Take a block of wood and hammer and carefully hammer the idler assembly down. If the bolt is coming up, thats the sign its not dropping the idler. I've had to tap the idler down on both of my cars.

Re: taking the A/C belt off...

You are supposed to loosen the bolt that goes through the center of the pulley, and then loosen the adjustment bolt to move it up and down. Good Luck

LOL yes... do not bang on it with a block of wood. Once you loosen the center nut.. then turn that screw that you've been turning and that will slowly move the pulley down the rail and loosen the AC belt. Then when you're done, make sure you tighten the center nut.

Anyone who doesn't do what you do is a noob I guess. It's a perfectly legitimate method of gently breaking free a part that has already been unfastened.

ladies...stop the fighting.
it's like kindergarden in here!

u can use a block of wood to pop free a part...GENERALLY if your tensioner is that messed up (frozen) u should toss it. so in this case a block of wood should not be needed to pop anything.

you want a cookie?
i can use a 30lb sledge hammer too...what's your point?

most of the time you don't need it..if u do need something to break it loose then you might want to look into getting another tensioner since it's prob pretty old.

if u loosen the lock nut enough it should all move without a problem. did you do that?

No biggie for a short time but remember the AC is also the dryer for the defrost. Also it's the heater for when you put the defrost on "hot".

Well I guess my point was way to hard to get. Using a block of wood worked perfectly fine on mine. There does that clear up the confusion for ya? Now a 30 lb sledge, that would be just stupid.

lol.. do i plan to twin turbo my car?? i don't understand. my car has twin turbo chargers already. ddduuuuuu..
-

- anyway i took the belt off by taking loosening the pully, then it just slid down...EZ
-!BUT! I'm still getting that bad "hissssssing" sound from the belts..
humm... could my under-drive pully be making the sound.?
- o yea and just for the record i noticed a very slight gain in power, because the belt is off.
